Lisa M. Young, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Young has played an integral role within Chicago Glaucoma Consultants since she joined the practice in 2009. Her specialized optometric training has provided her the ability to independently treat and manage ocular disease. She works closely with the ophthalmologists in managing pre- and post- operative surgical care in our office and she specializes in the correction of the visual system through the use of eyeglasses and contact lenses.

A native of Champaign, Illinois, Dr. Young was influenced in her desire to care for people by her father, a neurologist. She received a Bachelor's of Science in Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated cum laude from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. Subsequently, Dr. Young completed a primary care and ocular disease residency at the Illinois Eye Institute. In this additional year of training, Dr Young worked side by side with ophthalmologists in her patient care.

Dr. Young has experience teaching optometric students and ophthalmology residents and is an adjunct faculty assistant professor at the Illinois College of Optometry. Drs. Brown and Gorla first met Dr. Young when she was instructing their ophthalmology residents at Rush University Medical College.

Dr. Young is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and has chaired the Glaucoma Section and the Illinois State Chapter of the Academy. She is also a member of the Illinois Optometric Association, American Optometric Association and the prestigious Optometric Glaucoma Society. She continues to remain active within the optometric community along with continued interest in research and patient care.
